Pharmaceutical Discussion Groups (PDG) is a professional affinity organization that meets on a regular basis to update its participants on activities, regulations, and practices related to pharmaceutical processes. Information is provided primarily from the participants; (attendees are generally managers/scientists with at least two year's experience. They have a broad knowledge of their company's practices and equipment. Some attendees (accompanying the primary participant) may specialize in computer systems, regulatory affairs, or any field associated with the process under discussion.
Meetings are announced in the Spring and Fall each year and the venue is determined by the location of the hosting pharmaceutical company. Meeting focus is limited to the designated process. Due to the discussion nature of our meetings, the size is limited to no more than fifty persons at each gathering. The topics covered at each meeting are submitted by the attendees, so each meeting is tailor-made to meet the needs of those present. Attendees participate in polls, discuss (non-proprietary) practices from their own programs, and share information they have gleaned from other Process-related meetings and interactions with regulatory agencies. Since attenders must be knowledgeable about all aspects of their own company's process and only disclose information in keeping with their company's policies, Consultants may not participate. Attender's must be current, direct employees of the company they represent and that company must be a marketer of a health system product
An assortment of vendors display equipment, services, and systems at each meeting to keep us aware of what is available to help accomplish our tasks efficiently and in compliance with regulations and guidelines. This is an important aspect of the networking value provided by this type of meeting.
Past PDG participants have reported that these types of meeting have proven more valuable than any other in terms of regulatory intelligence, justification of equipment purchases, and establishment of contacts for fast benchmarking.
PDG is not an educational organization. It is a forum for knowledgeable pharmaceutical professionals who are currently employed by a pharmaceutical company or CRO with an active program in the topic area of the PDG Meeting.
